What is Electronic Business?

Electronic business (eBusiness) means using computers, networks and digital technologies to conduct business.  Companies in all industries can apply eBusiness to improve operations and reduce costs.

The term eBusiness covers a broad range of business capabilities:

Business Applications used by a company to electronically manage its information, processes and/or value chain.

Company Website supporting eCommerce processes for selling products and services directly to customers.

Electronic Forms providing a structured and controlled way to create business documents within own company or for business partners.

Automated Identification using barcodes or RFID technologies to capture information about products or shipments and to support track/trace processes.

Community Data Sharing enabling businesses to publish, update and access a business information (such as product descriptions) based on B2B standards.

Information Authentication enabling businesses to validate certain data (such as company identifiers) through community services based on B2B standards.

B2B Messaging allowing companies to send forms or files automatically through system-to-system integration.

Dynamic Partner Connection extending B2B processes to a business community, so new partners can start conducting business with any company.

Electronic Auction sites enable buyers and sellers to directly communicate to bid on the pricing of goods through a managed auction service.
