Organization Description

RosettaNet, a subsidiary of GS1 US™, is a not-for-profit consortium dedicated to the collaborative development and rapid deployment of open, business process standards that align processes within global trading networks.

RosettaNet standards and services provide a common language for business transactions and the foundation for integrating critical processes among partners within the global supply chain.

Companies that use RosettaNet’s proven standards benefit from added cost-savings throughout supply chain processes, improved e-business communications with trading partners, enhanced product life cycle management capabilities, and added customer satisfaction.

Governance Summary

Executive leadership is provided through the RosettaNet Board of Governors.

RosettaNet Councils authorize the formation of programs for standards development and maintenance.  Governance for new-program approval generally requires five council members agreeing in advance to implement and validate the to-be-developed standard.

RosettaNet Architecture Advisory Committee (AAC) provides oversight and executive guidance to the RosettaNet Councils for RosettaNet Foundational Programs and the RosettaNet architecture roadmap.

All RosettaNet members can participate in RosettaNet programs to develop and maintain standards.

RosettaNet Milestone Programs develop and validate Partner Interface Processes (PIP) standards.

RosettaNet Foundational Programs develop and validate all other B2B standards.

Some RosettaNet Member companies have the opportunity to vote on new standards; depends on type of membership. Standards are approved/disapproved based on a majority of member companies casting a vote.

Regional Affiliates and RosettaNet User Groups are independent organizations supporting implementations but do not create standards.

Each Member Company can identify individuals to fill specific RosettaNet Roles:

RosettaNet Champion as primary company liaison

RosettaNet Implementation Champion for technical topics

Depending on membership level, a Council Member and/or Voting Member.

Organization Leadership

RosettaNet Board of Governors includes DHL, GS1 India, IBM, and Intel.
